Keith Kirby
Keith Edmond Kirby, 40, of Collettsville, died unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the residence. He was born May 30, 1967 in Oklahoma County, Okla., to J.B. Kirby, of Gamewell, and Mrs. Doris Austin Scruggs, of Lenoir. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Boyden S. Kirby and Harde Edmond Austin. Mr. Kirby attended Abundant Life Tabernacle. Keith played lead guitar and wrote gospel songs. He also loved hunting. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cynthia Puett Kirby, of the home; a daughter, Ms. Ashely Leane Kirby, of Lenoir; two step-daughters, Mrs. Misty Mull Perky, of Sawmills, and Ms. Brittany Nichole Mull, of Lenoir; three brothers, Jeffery Daniel Kirby, of Lenoir, Johnny Curtis, of Hudson, and Jerry Curtis, of Morganton; three grandchildren, Madison Brooke Mull and Braxton Chance Perky, both of Sawmills, and Mykenzie Holsclaw, of Lenoir. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Revs. David McNeil and Daniel Buchanan, and Jerry Curtis. Interment will follow at Rocky Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jerry Curtis, Johnny Curtis, Jeff Kirby, Brian Shew, Danny Reid and Robbie Perky.
