Hyacinth Abernethy
Hyacinth Marie Thompson Abernethy, 87, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Abernethy was born in Caldwell County to the late Willie Thompson and Annie Mae Davis Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Joe” Abernethy. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Central Advent Christian Church and a member of the WHFMS Mission Society. She graduated from Collettsville High School. Survivors include two sons, Steve Abernethy and his wife Rhonda, and Roger Abernethy and his wife Gail, all of Lenoir; two daughters, Marilyn Beane and her husband, Jerry, of Lenoir, and Linda Schoch and her husband, Joseph Schoch Jr., of Glen Ridge, N.J.; a sister, Nelle Thompson Land and her husband, Clarence, of Newport News, Va.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, May 16, 2008 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Pendry's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Central Advent Christian Church with the Revs. Ed Neal, Leonard Lindsey and B.J. Walker officiating. Mrs. Abernethy will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Abernethy, Marcus Abernethy, Joseph Schoch III, Michael Schoch, Rick Wilson and Brad Leonhardt. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus, Raven, David, and Justin Land; and Van, Mike and Barry Abernethy. Memorials may be made to Central Advent Christian Church, 104 Willow Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
