Kathleen Hatley

Mrs. Kathleen Hamby Hatley, 75, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

Mrs. Hatley was born Dec. 27, 1932 in Caldwell County to the late “Pless” Hamby and Bessie Cox Hamby. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hatley and her brother Gene Hamby.

She was a retired hosiery worker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Hatley Maltba and husband Tommy of Hudson; her grandson, William “Bill” Wright and wife Holly; her great-granddaughter, Macy Wright; her sisters, JoAnn Arnette and husband Junior of Hudson and Peggy Smith and husband Andrew of Lenoir; a sister-in-law, Sherry Hamby, also of Lenoir, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Hatley will be held Saturday, May 17 at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Whitnel with the Rev. Stuart White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Junior Arnette, Cris Arnette, Tyler Arnette, Tom Maltba, Buddy Lee and Scott Cashion.

The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood St. NW Lenoir, NC 28645 or First Baptist Church of Whitnel at 1201 Connelly Springs Rd., Lenoir NC 28645.
